Turn off monitor using keyboard

Can u try to turn off the monitor without touching the monitor .I bet u can't. Some of us  may say that we can just turnoff the monitor by unplugging the powercable from it.lets figure out how to do that.

Recently i have come across NirCmd .This little tool acts in multiple ways based on the arguments passed to it.
So i thought of making a tutorial on it .Using this single lightweight tool we can perform many tasks.Ill post each trick independently so that u can understand about dis tool thoroughly.
Now download the tool directly by clicking on the above link. After downloading the zip file extract it somewhere u like. Now right click anywhere on the desktop

Browse to the location where u have extracted your NirCmd tool and click on NirCmd.exe.add the following arguments to the path which should be placed in da inverted quotes
“C:\path\to\nircmd.exe” cmdwait 2000 monitor off

Here i have passed da number 2000 which means computer waits 2 seconds before turning off the monitor .You can give 1000 so that it waits only 1 second .Next name the shortcut as Turnoff.exe and click on finish. Our next step is to assign shortcut key by right clicking on it .

Give ur own key combination click on apply and then click on ok.Also by clicking on the button Change Icon change it to icon of ur choice. Now our shortcut is ready. If i press ctrl+alt+p then my monitor gets turned off whenver u press any other the monitor gets turned on .Use this trick to reduce ur powerbills
