pendrives revolutionised the way we can carry data from one place to another place.When compared with cds or dvds pen drives are extremely portable.Due to this feature the usage of pendrives increased enormously .As we know every thing has got its own pros and cons .Virus developers took this to their advantage and started developing virus which loads automatically
when a infected pendrive is inserted into our computer .These devices can also be used to steal information from computers at the absence of their owners.
Whenever we insert a USB device ito the USB port of our computer,Windows checks its device ID and Hardware ID to know whether it's a storage device or not If it determines the device is mass storage device then the appropriate driver is loaded and the pendrive is displayed as a drive in my computer.All these work is carried out by a driver called usbstor.sys driver.
If u want to prevent the usage of pendrive in ur system
Goto Start >>> Run now type regedit inorder to open the registry editor.
now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Currentcontrolset\services\USBSTOR.
Double click on the entry named start in the right pane.The default value in the Value data field will be 3 change this value to 4 to disable the pendrive.
